Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher
Hi I'm Tom Stickney and today I want to talk to you about the mental game and we are going to talk to you about how to handle pressure. You know a lot of times we get in here we get anxiety I think we get that pressure brewing might be for a couple of our hazards might be a type of water hazard or whatever. You got to make sure that when the pressure is on you are going to hit the shot with success and what I mean by that basically what I mean is that all your decisions need to be made behind the golf ball. Uou need to have the type of focus you have all these factors we've come up with a golf ball the lie with this is where you can hit it we just you know what's going on whats the outcome.
Those are all the things that you take into account and they all come down to one simple swing fault you get over the golf ball. So all I want to do hit the golf ball here and that's my basics swing fault I am going to pick my little spot and then here is the key to handle pressure the only thing I can focus on is the process. Going through my routine and making sure that I focus in on where I want the ball to go not where I don't want it to go. So remember when you're right maybe all your decisions behind the golf ball so you have one simple thought when you're standing over the golf ball that's number one. Then number 2 go to your pre-shot routine and focus very astutely on making sure that you do what you're supposed to do be and that last look is we want the ball to go not where you want the ball not to go, and I promise you will find that ball on the fairway or the green alot more often.
