Hi I'm Tom Stickney and today I want to talk to you about hitting mid irons. You know 7 6 or 5 that range right here you know you get a lot of shots in those particular areas on these golf courses now as a start to get longer and we have those type of shots the biggest thing that really to focus in on is making sure number one that we hit the ball solid. Why do you want to hit the ball solid because we need to get the ball up in the air. A lot of times on these mid irons people tend to hit a little thin or they hit them quite high enough, and what happens is the ball comes in the green is coming in on this angle so it's going to hit the green and pitch forward you know regardless of how much spin it has if you have a landing angle like this it's going to go over the back of the green.

If we have a landing angle like this and we have a little bit of spin now we're going somewhere we are going to have a ball that is going to stop quicker. So when I'm hitting these mid irons I want to make sure there are 2 things I want to make sure that I hit the ball solid and also make sure I hit the ball a little bit higher and more gets the ball to come in steeper it's going to stop quicker and you're going to have a lot more fun. So to do that all I'm going to do is play the ball just a shade more forward in my stance everything else is the same. When I do that ball comes up in the air nice and solid it comes down steep and it stops quicker. So experiment with the height of your mid irons by making sure you hit it solid and you are going to have a lot easier time stopping the golf ball and those front pins won't be quite so pesky.
