Hi I'm Tom Stickney and today I want to talk to you about the big dog the driver. We want hit this thing as far as humanly possible with parameters we can deal with. Now for some players like Luke Donald are going to swing very easy relative to the tour average and had a lot of fairways because they feel like “boy if I keep it at a certain distance I have a lot of areas it's going to be easier for me to play.” Other players stand up here in the swing of mach one and they don't really care to much about where the ball goes. Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods they figure well I get in trouble just chip out get up and down.

You have to figure out as a player what you are more comfortable doing is hit a lot of fairways a bit easier or is it bombing it out there with the parameters which you can deal with. Obviously you know shell our balance or hitting a lake or something like that, but my goal as a teacher is to get that distances as far out as you can get. We really want to make sure that you're hitting the driver as long as possible but in an area if you can digest. So for me as a medium to long player I want to stand up here hit a lot of fairways because for me it's easier, as a player I get wound up when I'm in the rough you know harder rough down here in Mexico so it is a bit toughter. So what I would suggest you practice go out to the range and hit some shots really easy. Start your fairway on the range and see what happens then swing at mach one and figure out where the ball goes. From there to get an idea of what he or more guiding swing looks like and your full force swing looks like a different gear you can make a decision which one is better for you. For me I like to let the driver do the work I like to hit a lot more fairways because it makes my life less stressful. So that's what I do for you he might be a bomber but for me I promise you if you can hit down the middle I promise you will have a lot more fun.
