Hi I'm Tom Stickney and today I want to talk to you about how to hit hybrids. Now there's all kind of different hybrids on the market some like this particular gap low from Taylormade looks more like an iron and there's other clubs that have a more bulbous back hybrids that make it look more like a wood and then there are some that are in between. So for me the 1st would want to usually find a hybrid that looks good to your eye are some hybrids just look like they're going to left some look like they're really easy to hit and some hybrids look like you could pretty much shape. This particular hybrid doesn't want to go too much to left it tends to go straight if you have it might need look to the right. Now when you're getting hybrids you have to understand that there are 2 ways to hit hybrids you can be a sweeper like a wood that stays on the ground a lot longer post impact the ball goes up in the air or you can be more of a pincher or where you can hit down on the ball the more like your irons.

If you're more of a pincher they are probably going to be coming out a little bit lower so you want to set them on their highest setting, if you're more sweeper you can use more of your normal loft. So for me what I would do whether I would be for the sweeper or a digger if it's a good lie then I get it just like my wood if it's a tight lie one that is sitting down with it I'm going to go down a bit. Everybody knows how to hit a hybrid from a sweeping position but from a more pinching type of swing all we want to do is put the ball back in our stance just a touch about that much. Then all we're going to focus on doing is driving that club into the ground just a touch more with a little of the shaft and that is going to get that ball coming come out with more of a darting type of motion. So here we go ball back just a little bit and let's go ahead and hit down on it and when we do that you see that ball comes out a little bit flatter that's why they do a bit more loft and from there is going to help you get the ball closer to the green. Usually when you are in that position where we have a kind of pitching higher your probably in a bumpy lie you're probably not trying to hit it right on the green you're trying to hit it where you want you want to not where you don;t want to. So experiment with your hybrids you could be a sweeper or you could be a pincher they both work effectively.
