Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher
Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today were going to talk about learning pitching control. A great way to learn how to hits a ball consistently is to take a couple golf balls and what I'm going to do is I'm going to aim at a target I have a hula hoop that I had on the green you know you can envision hoop at home. What I'm trying to do is hit the ball that same distance each time but one time I want to land it on the far right side of the hula hoop the next time I want it in the middle of the hula hoop the last time I went to the far left side of the hula hoop.
So what I'm learning is how not only to hit good pitch shots but I'm also learning how to control the face because if you can't control the face you can't control the starting direction of the golf ball because we know that face angle controls are starting direction of golf ball. The slower the ball speeds the more important this becomes so when you're hitting a little pitch shots you know you see it at about 20 30 feet all of a sudden we're pushing 85 90 percent of the ball starting direction and control by where this face is pointing when the ball leaves the blade. So remember work on pitching control not only learning how to control your distance but also controlling how to hit it to the right the center and the left of your target if you do that you're going to be a better pitcher than ever before.
