Heel Off the Ground Pitch Shot by Tom Stickney Tom Stickney - A Top 100 Golf Teacher Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher

Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to talk to you about a very common shot called the toe down pitch shot. A lot of times you'll miss a green in here only missed the green by couple feet I mean some light rough but the green is running down the pins kind of really close. This particular shot you know I've only got about 10 feet between me and the pin on this grass is a little bit longer so I don't want to bump and run it I can't putt it so it's asking me to hit a shot where I kind of fly it and the last thing I want to do is make that kind of swing you know that short little flop shot on such a tight shot because you can do that you can skate over the back of the green or what have you.

So I've got a little shot called a toe down pitch shot 1st are you going to do is really take the club or we're going to put the toe in the ground so the heel is sticking off that club so yeah it's perpendicular to the ground. OK we want to make sure that heel is off the ground when the heel is off the ground you can put the ball front middle back you can open the club up you can shut it down all the stroke will make the ball react differently here I'm going to put the ball kind of in the middle of must it's club up on its toe they use my putting grip and here we go no wrist no wait 1 2 and that little putting strike the stroke with the toe down the toe hit the ground 1st. It opens a blade up and you'll see it come go very very soft so try the total in pitch shot in the soft you will have those close will flop shots you make it a lot easier.
