Club Head and Face Overhead Top View by Tom Stickney Tom Stickney - A Top 100 Golf Teacher Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher

Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to talk to show you a little bit about how the club head and face work through impact. You can see this particular position right hear the club face is in an open position it's coming from obviously this side of. Next frame almost at impact the clubface is open coming from the other side it's going to impact a golf ball the inside of the left quadrant the golf ball. The ball near face for you know about a half inch or so as the blade is closing and as the blade closes that puts th hook spin on the golf ball while the club moves into a closing condition. Now that is obviously how the club face work you can see the club is closing as it rotates through and the impact. Now remember the clubface is in this condition as the ball stick to the blade and it is in this condition when the ball leaves the blade that's going to put hook spin on the golf ball.

However if it is shut down if the club face is shut down in this condition where the club is one more this way. It's going to be even more shut right here and that is when you're going to start to get balls that go more to the left so in order to close the clolub face you must make sure that there is some sort of a timing in your release. You don't want to have the club face shutting down to quickly you don't have a club face obviously hanging open post-impact to much or you are going to loose the ball to the right. So remember the club is going to have a golf ball on the inside with an open club face the balls on the stick to the blade for 3 quarters of an inch just as the blade is closing and when that happens that's going to program your ball flight that you want. So take the time understand this a lot of people think that the blade is closed when it hits th golf ball that is incorrect is that this close it's going to go left to left with what you have on it is closing depending on what you want to do. So low point hits the golf ball closing on the way through life is pretty good have some fun work with it.
