Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher
In this week's tip I want to talk to you about the dreaded 3 footer or the knee knocker and usually one for all the money. Well instead of panicking over these putts and going “Oh what am I going to do? What am I going to do?” and think about all the ways you're going to miss this. Let me give you one solid thing to focus on so you can make more of these. The 1st thing we have to do is obviously it's not really a speed issue unless you have a big break. So for the most you're short putts it's more of a line issue. So after we've read this particular putt we know where it's going to break.
So I picked a little spot right there just a couple inches in front of the golf ball. So I picked a spot right here and all I'm going to do is I'm on a roll the golf ball right over the top of that spot and when I roll right over the top of the spot I'm focusing on. The process not the outcome rolling it over the top of the spot makes it easy for me to understand where the line is, and I'm supposed to make and how I'm going to get this ball in the hole. So remember focus in on the line pick your spot and you'll make more of those knee knocking 3 footers.
