Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to talk to you about to tee it or not to tee it on par 3. A lot of times you'll see your players or your friends will come up to a par 3 they'll push it around and they'll hit their shot. Is this a good idea or a bad idea? Here's what I would suggest the 1st thing if I am on a par 3 I'm always going to put it on a tee. It sits the ball up it helps me to be more confident it helps me to make a much better golf swing.

Now let's say that I've got a short iron or the tee is a little tight or a little fluffy or whatever and I'm trying to do something special the only other way that I might do it is to kind of bend the tee box like that perching the ball on. When I perch the ball up like so it's up just a little bit higher sits up a little higher I'm going to be able to get the same type of shot. While I don't advocate that 100 percent I'll give you a secondary type of motion so get the ball teed up just a little bit and all of a sudden you're going to be a lot more effective on the tee.
