Swing Balance A to Z Series by Tom Stickney Tom Stickney - A Top 100 Golf Teacher Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher

Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today were going to talk about balance counterbalance and homeostasis. When we set up to golf ball we have balance issues we want to make sure that we are balanced from front to back and side to side we don't want to be too much on our toes and too much on our heels to much side to side as we all know. Homeostasis keeps you upright from falling down OK so if I show you this way your arms kind of go like that it's your body's way of making sure you don't fall over.

Now when it comes to balance and counterbalancing homeostasis in the golf swing something you will see very often if you see somebody with a loose lower body movement going back you know they have this one thing where one part of your body goes out from under you the other part of your body is going to go the other way to counterbalance your body. From there that process is going to reverse and you'll fall back the other way. So remember if you have faulty lower body actions on the way to the top that will perpetuate a reverse pivot it will make it very difficult for you to move back to the golf ball. So in order for you to hit decent golf shots you must make sure your foundation is under control when your foundation is under control you can lower your weight and move them back and forth more effectively.
