Takeaway A to Z Series by Tom Stickney Tom Stickney - A Top 100 Golf Teacher Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher

Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today were going to talk about set up and the takeaway. You know a lot of people ask me Tom where does this club need to be halfway back you know here is it here here here here here what have you. Well a simple way for you to figure out if your takeaway is on plane is the audit this checkpoint right here if you take it back. Stop when the club shaft is parallel the ground it should be right on top or your toes are pointing OK if it's a little bit behind there it's a little bit out in front there it's really not that big a deal but the club shaft is going to be somewhere around your toes.

So as long as you are reasonably right there you're going to be OK. You get theclub out in front of you you're off plane you get a super far behind you then you're off plane. So take it back to belt high the club shaft just parallel to the ground it it's on top of your stance line you know that you're reasonably on a plane. Now you don't have the perfectly on plane at 9 o'clock to get all the way back regularly but it sure does help so all of that 9 o'clock position when the club shaft just parallel the ground and you're going to have a better take away because of it.
