Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher
In this week's tip I want to talk to you about hitting wedges and making sure that you have birdie putts not par putts. Here we have a short little approach to our par 4 right here and one of the most important thing I want to do well everybody says well I want it over here close the pin. I want to do this I want to do that the most important thing is hitting the green. I know that sounds pretty remedial and pretty basic, but you have to remember whenever the pins back in a corner or talk in the front corner or what have you behind bunkers or whatever.
Your first job is to hit the green so always remember look at where you are and always make sure before you go after a pin that you have a green like situation. With this particular pin right here it's right in the middle of the green no problem whatsoever, but with the pin was tucked left and I had some issues. Then I would do for the middle of the green and my job is to always hit the green. So when you have short wedges your 1st idea and your 1st thought is to always hit the green, and if you hit the green you'll make a lot more pars and birdies than bogeys and doubles.
