Shank Fault A to Z Lesson by Tom Stickney Tom Stickney - A Top 100 Golf Teacher Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher

Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to talk to you about shank. We know the shank can be caused from an overly in to out or out to in type of swing path. You also know that posture changes during the downstroke can heavily influence in the shank to occur let me show you what I mean if I come in here and I stand up the club tends to exit to much in the right field I can shank it.

If I come down here and I tend to dive at it I could have been too much of a cross type of path the shank ensues. What I'd like to do is maintain whatever spinal tilt I have all the way from address to the top of me all the way through if you maintain your spinal tilt that way you're going to find that your posture changes will not affect the path of the club. So remember keep your posture consistent even spine angle consistent and the shank will not occur.
