Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to talk to you about popping the ball up. A lot of times people have these thrashing tee shots the ball goes right up off the club of the super high here and it makes a nice mark on top your club. What's happening if you tend to get in front of the golf ball the club comes from out to in the club tends to chop down a golf ball like so and the ball goes off the top of the face and straight up in the air.

The way to stop the pop ups is to make sure you keep your head behind the golf ball coming down and you want to feel the club coming more from the inside but each time you come from out to in you lean in front of it. You're going to have a propensity to pop it up so from the inside keep your head behind it. When you do that you'll find the pop ups will be a thing of the past.
