Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher
In this week's tip I want to talk to you about how to control the golf ball. How to make sure it goes where we want. One of the biggest misconceptions there is is how the ball curves we know that the golf ball starts in mostly in the direction of the face and it curves away from the path. So you're both starting direction especially with the driver is mostly the face. So what I like to do is pick 2 spots when I get behind the golf ball. I pick 2 spots of where I want the ball start and basically those spots are like my uprights in football.
I want to make sure that ball starts in that direction from there if I can really focus on getting everything to go through those uprights I'm going to hit the ball a lot straighter. So remember your starting direction is controlled by the face. Here my second spots if I can get that golf ball the start right between those 2 spots I should find this golf ball in the fairway, and there you go ball started between those 2 spots right down the right side. Life is pretty good so remember focus on your starting direction and you're going to find the golf ball straight down the fairway more often than not.
