Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher
In this week's tip I want to talk to you about where to leave the golf ball. All too often when you're this close to the pin people just hit the ball because they're inking they're going to get up and down, and they don't pay much attention to where they want to leave the golf ball. Remember it's a much easier day if you have a bunch of uphill and preferably right to left putts for right hander than a bunch of downhill left or right sliders. So take into account what you see down here as I look at this particular pin. I can see that anything short of the pin is going to be a downhill putt, and past the pin is going to be an uphill putt.
So at best I want to leave this golf ball past the hole and when I do that I don't have that uphill putt. So remember we're going to use our chipping motion and want to try to hit this golf ball past the pin. Why we're going to hit it past the pin so we can have an uphill putt coming back and for there that's a pretty good shot and remember if I get past the pin more often than not I might have a chance to make it.
