Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher
A lot of times people will get the rough and they panic they're not really sure what to do especially when there's a hazard short of the green as we have here on the canyons number 18. So how do you handle the rough What do you do differently to make sure that you can extract this ball from the rough and get it up on that green? Well the 1st thing we're going to do is we're going to make sure that we put the ball back in our stance just a little bit and that helps to encourage us to kind of chop down on the golf ball. The 2nd thing we're going to do is we're going to set our wrist a little bit quicker we want to get this club set up a little bit quicker so it can increase the angle of attack so we can chop down on it and hoist the ball up on that green.
A lot of times people come in here and they come into shallow when they come into shallow the grass wraps around the hosel and it noses is the club face down and when that happens the ball comes out squirting and low and left and it doesn't obviously get to the green. So all we're going to do we're going to put the ball back in our stance just about a half inch or so and we're going to set the club a little bit more once again we've set the club a bit more it cause us to chop down on it and when we chop down on it it's going to go on the green. So here we go ball back our stance a little bit a little bit a wrist hinge so we chop down, and there you go that will help us a whole bunch to do what we're capable of so chop down on it and you can hit your pretty good shot out of the rough.
