Using the core muscles doesn't only count and isn't only beneficial on the big full shots. Using your core muscles properly on the sure game shots as well can give big benefits to most golfers. That's because it takes a little bit of control and it also stops the hands from getting a little bit too fidgety. It allows the body to take control over certain shots and over certain situations.

Generally speaking, if you're faced with very a fiddly shot over a for example to a tie pin, using the hands and using the arms, gripping on very, very tightly and being very, very tentative with a shot will generally not lead to the best results. Controlling swing length and controlling everything using the core muscles can help breed a little bit more consistency. Now what I mean by that, if you get yourself set up to a pitch, and you take the club away and as you move it away you add in just a little bit of wrist hinge. Now this will allow you to strike down on the ball a little more effectively, hit the ball first and then the turf. But after adding in that little bit of hinge, if you just focus on using your core muscles to drive the technique you should find they're a bit different between that and the strikes you may have been having. So getting set up, ball position -- I'm just going to use it in the middle of my stance here. I'm going to turn it back, I'm going to turn the club back just again using the top of my stomach, using the center of my chest area here, adding in that little bit of hinge, and on the way through, just using the center of my chest using my stomach again to turn through. I'm using my body, I'm using the main bowel of my body to turn back and through. The club and my hands are just on the outside of that bowel, outside of that wheel that we've already discussed. So into this position, turning back with that hinge but using the center of the chest that stomach -- top of the stomach position, so it's there and then moving through and it just allows that club to be delivered very, very consistently into the point of impact. How you can use your core of your sure game and not just on the full shots.
