Hi I am Golfing Magazine Top 100 instructor Tom Stickney and in this part of our Trackman educational series I want to talk to you about the launch direction. We know that the ball starts mostly in the direction of the face and curves away from the path. That helps us to understand what our launch direction is ok so if I play a fade as I do right here my path is left by 5.4.

My face angle should be right of my path by a certain amount, and that would cause my ball to strat in a certain direction. You can see I had the face basically lined up at the target at impact and that ball basically started at the target. It curved away from the path so that would be left and that ball is over here so that is pretty decent. Let's take a look at another example when I hit this draw my path was 5 degrees to the right my face angle was left of the path by 4 degrees so you can see the face is over here so the ball starts in the direction of the face but curves away from the path.
