In this week's tip I want to talk to you about losing distance with your driver. You know people come out and they start hitting balls and all of a sudden they start hitting the ball shorter and they don't really know what's going on. Well a lot of times it can be something as simple as the loft setting on the driver. Now does that mean that it changes, no but sometimes just when you start to change a little bit. So remember we have adjust-ability in these drivers and we can take this 8-5 loft and we can make it as high as 10-5 we can make it is low as 6-5 it depends on what's going on. So the 1st thing you have to do is make sure your club is fit correctly for how you're swinging at that particular period. Now that won't change that often but sometimes it's a big thing. The 2nd thing you can do is focus in on your tee height if you're hitting some shorter drives make sure that your teeing the ball just a little bit higher. If you keep it down too low you're going to get these low flat bullets that aren't going to go anywhere. If you teed up higher you're going to get balls that carry a whole bunch.

Now based on the conditions you play would be the key height that you need to use. If the fairways are firm you can get away with a little bit lower to hide if the fairways are soft and they're not running a whole bunch you need to get up a little bit. So here at Punta Mita we don't have a lot of run in our fairways. So I've got the ball teed up a little bit higher so now what I'm going to do is focus in on getting the highest launch I can. So the ball stays in the air the longest and when it stays in the air the longest I'm going to have a much better probability of hitting the longer drive. So I've got the ball teed up a bit higher and all I'm going to make is my normal golf swing, and now that I made that normal golf swing because the tee height is higher it is going to launch higher in the air and it's going to tend to run a little bit more. So remember tee up higher for more carry tee it down a bit lower for a little bit more run in the middle and you'll get a little bit of both.
