What is the correct hand rotation on the golf back swing? Now to get a sense of the correct actual hand rotation on the backswing you don’t even have to use a club to practice. If you pop the club to the side, just get yourself in a golf position and let the hands hang down nice and naturally with the palms facing each other. Now the correct hand rotation in the right hand is as the club moves back the hand opens up, and at this point here I am pointing and shaking hands with the camera.

As it moves to the top the hand slightly turns upwards so if I imagine I am a waiter just holding a plate in this position here. As I come down into impact I return to this position here pointing straight back with the fingers and that it impacts my palm is now facing towards the target again. With the left hand it’s just exerted the same just slightly in reverse. So I am going there behind shaking hands with the camera again, moving to the top, then rather than actually twisting my hand over that way I keep it nice and firm so the top of the position top of the backswing position the back of the left hand and the back of the left wrist are level with the back of the left arm. So you can practice those in sequence such as this or you can pick up the club and practice them yet again. So we are taking it back and you can see here if my hands are all to be in the same position and at the top will be in the same position again as we practice without the club. So that’s the correct hand rotations throughout the backswing, you can practice it with the club. But to begin with if you want a real sense of those movements practice it with just the hands one at a time, and hopefully you will be able to hit those positions once you start hitting balls.
