Left Handed Golf Tip: What Determines The Loft At Impact by Tom Stickney

Lefties only golf tip: Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today were going to talk about dynamic loft. You know a lot of times when we're talking about other clubs specially the driver we hear so much about launch angle we need to launch that ball up in the air we need to launch that ball flatter depending on what we're trying to do. We tend to forget about dynamic loft and here I have a 60 degree sand wedge just the simplicity of this video to help you understand what dynamic loft really is. If I hit this golf ball and the shaft returns right back to neutral my dynamic loft would be 60 degrees. If I returned this club step back to impact and the shaft is leaning forward obviously it has a lower launch angle and the dynamic loft of the club is lower.
