A wise man once said that the longest golf course you'll ever play is the five and a half inches between your ears and he wasn't wrong. The mental game, trying to control your emotions, stay positive and concentrated is really, really challenging for most golfers throughout the four, four and a half hours of their round. So how can we really simplify it as best we can and stay positive, especially after we hit one of those annoying poor golf shots.

Let's look at it from this angle. Every time you address the golf ball, it's an individual new challenge. Every hole has a certain number of individual challenges. How many of them can you win? Just imagine you are stood on the first tee. The first shot is the first challenge. So either you execute the shot well and get a good outcome and you win that challenge one nil, or you don't, you lose it.
