Resistance band drill Tips by PGA Teaching Pro Ged Walters

One of the most important pieces when making the backswing is making sure that your hands and arms are moving, not just around, but upward as well. So we can get our hands in a nice elevated position, but also far enough around the body to be able to nice and smoothly transition into the downswing. So a great drill to feel that stretch is using a resistance band.

So I've got two loops in this resistance band. One loop is going to go through the thumb of my gloved hand. I'm going to take my left foot and I'm going to stand on the other one. So then when I take my grip, I want to get the feeling that I'm really stretching that band up. As I move around really thinking about reaching for the ceiling, reaching for the sky, depending on whether you're outside or you're on the range.
