Greenside Bunker Setup Tips by PGA Teaching Pro Ged Walters

The green side bunker for you, or many of you, probably one of the worst nightmares, but there's a lot of you love them, and if you get this set up, correct, you can all start to love hitting shots from greenside bunkers. In fact, you'll enjoy the ball being in the bunker, that being the rough, cause you can get more control. So how do we want to set up to this kind of shot?

The key to it really is making sure that you give yourself the best platform to be able to get the club and the sole of the club through the sand, that's the key to it. So what we're going to do is we're going to widen the stance a little bit more, the normal, maybe around the width, the stance that many of you are going to have for your driver. From this point here, slightly softer knees is going to lower the level of the center. So you can see my sternum here as I flex my knees, you can see how much lower I start to get. The reason we want to be a little bit lower is because we want the club to go through the sand and throw the sand out of the bunker.
