When it comes to poor quality striking, one of the biggest factors is an instability in the body, especially in the lower half of the body. When the lower half's unstable, it's so easy for the top half of the body to follow. So here is a great drill you can practice out in the garden with an alignment stick. So you can see here, it's on a slight angle.
That angle is the same angle as my leg pretty much when I take the width of my stance. Now, if I was to take my setup here with my mid iron, and I've got that there almost next to me, unstable legs, we see a lot of that. We see a lot of resistance in the hip rotation, and even we see a lot of moving and swaying over to the right side would result in knocking out this stick and then the angle moving means that the hips and the torso, they lose their connection.
