Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to talk to you about bellied wedge. Some times you are a little bit over the green you've got a little bit of fringe to cover an the pin is kind of cut close. You know in this particular scenario you know you're right here with the ball sitting down I couldn't putt it if I use my hybrid the ball tends to jump. So what we are going to do is we are going to use a bellied wedge set the wedge just like so just like we're putting and all I am going to do is hit the top part of the golf ball and make sure the ball rolls out of the rough.

This particular motion. Makes the ball roll like it was a putt so I want you to use your wedge like you would if you forgot your putter and you are you going to putt it on the green with your wedge. You can use just a couple feet off the green in tight tight low down stuff is good or even just a couple feet in this rough it actually works. You will actually have to kind of fiddle with it but it's a great little shot to stop you from getting a little ball jumping and it's a really easy shot if you have a bad lie a tight lie sandy lie or some shots that tend to get away from you. So if you can't use a putter and the pins to close you hybrid try the belly wedge.
