Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to talk to you about how to master the short putts. Everybody gets in the end of the under the gun they get a little tense they get will proceed to get some money on the line and they have trouble with the short putt. That's because we tend to focus on the outcome rather than the process so let me give you an easy way to focus on the process so you can forget about what these putts mean and make one of the short ones. First thing I'm going to do if I'm going to line up my stripe of where I'm trying to go so therefore I know that when I put my putter down I want my body up parallel left of that I know that I'm square.

So we always want to make sure all the short ones were lined up correctly because short ones are all about line and less about speed so with lead lined up the ball correctly and then we do one thing we set the putter down 1st we set our body up parallel left or that make sure our eyes are our head or in the right condition. Now here's the key the only thing I can focus on is making that stripe end over end not wobbling one way or the other so if I can focus it on get it set up and make that stripe end over end with a good aggressive firm stroke I'm probably going to have better short putter. So remember get set up line up that's stripe make sure you are methodical about that and that all you're going to focus on the short ones with this pressure on the line is make it that stripe goes end over end. If you'll grab a practice facility golf ball their stripes on and you can have a very easy understanding that if you're stripe is going end over end only you know when that is paramount importance or you do what you're capable of only short ones.
