Stop Moving Head Back for Better Bunker Shots by Tom Stickney Tom Stickney - A Top 100 Golf Teacher Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher

Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to show you a very important thing about bunker play. As you can see Davis Love is hitting this bunker shot and I've drawn a line through his head and his body and you can see that his head never falls back behind that line. All too often I see people get in this position in the bunkers and their head comes falling backwards and when the head goes falling backwards in moves the low point backwards and they tend to hit behind the golf ball. When those type of players tend to hit behind the golf ball what's going to happen when they start don't their hand that is so they get fat shots and they get shot to go over over the back of the green. So I'm a play Davis a little bit slower so what you can really see is once he sets his head forward his spine and his head kind of forward here to address he stayed on that left side all the way back and then he follows through on his left side. He never bounces backwards and you can really see if you look at the logo on his hat right here as he comes down logo just stays right there boom and that means his low point is going to be constant and as low point is constant he's going to have a lot better chance of hitting more solid bunker shot and you have a less chance to hit the ball the state of the blocker as well as you want to go rip in over the back of the green at about Mach 5. So once again once you set your head keep it there and don't fall backwards.
