People have these rough shots and all of a sudden they're not quite sure what to do the 1st thing we need to do when we're in the rough is go to lie analysis. We need to understand is it this lie where it's perched up is this lie where it is about half and half or is it this lie where it's sitting down a little bit obviously each of those shots are going to require a pretty different type of shot that you can or cannot play based on your experiences. So we're just going to pretend that this is kind of a half up half down lie which is the one you usually get. The 1st we want to do is want to make sure we have the correct club here again don't try to be a hero and try to to iron out of this rough when there's a hazard right here in front of you and you have a high probability it low and left in the hazard.

So here I've selected a 7 iron what I'm going to do is going to put the ball in the middle of my stance I'm going to lean my weight just a little bit for that encourages me to chop down on it just a little bit. When I chop down on it a dig through the rough the ball is going to squirt out they're not going to quite go as far as usual but at least it's going to go where I want it so here we go ball back in the stance hands and weight forward and chop down and when I do that the ball is going to come out low but low it's going to come out a little harder go a bit shorter you can see I went down through it a little bit more that's the way you get out of the rough you can't come into the rough and swing very shallow you have to kind of go down in effort. So remember the worse the lie and the rough the more you're going to go down after it and when you do that it's going to come out and you're going to be successful.
