Driver set up versus iron set up - (Video) lesson by PGA Pros and Pete Styles and Matt Fryer

An often mistaken part of the golf address position is the fact that the golfer remains too consistent and similar depending on whether they have an iron or the driver. It is important for a golfer to understand the irons and the driver require a different set up and address position due to the fact that the driver and the iron require a different impact position. In this video Pete and Matt will give you the rundown on how to best approach drivers and irons with regards to your set up.

We talk a huge amount about making a golf swing. A lot of the time we talk about that swing should be consistent and that swing should be the same all the time but in reality the shots we're trying to hit with 2 very very different clubs and 2 very different environments. We take one ball down on the ground we take one ball up on the tee we take one ball with an iron and we take one ball with the driver one ball we're trying to hit through 250 straight down here one ball we're trying to hit a 100 yards on to a green.

Those 2 swings can not be the same and those 2 swing should not come from the same set up position. So I'm going to suggest the driver set up and the irons set up are fundamentally different and if your drive and iron set up are the same something is probably going wrong. Change it exactly watch the rest of the video and it's the whole world will open up you because Matt will give us the difference between an iron and driver set up and there's a couple of really key areas that hopefully aren't too difficult to bring into your golf swing.
