Creating The Correct Weight Shift In Your Golf Downswing - (Video) Lesson by PGA Pros Pete Styles and Matt Fryer

The golf swing is fundamentally a rotational motion, with the golfer rotating the upper body over a more stable lower half. However, there is a significant lateral weight shift required in the golf swing to generate a smooth and powerful action. One that is responsible for delivering the golf club at speed with a degree of consistency. Matt and Peter will explain how from a stable balanced set up position, the body weight should be loaded correctly to the instep of the rear foot to allow an explosive weight transfer across towards the lead foot. This dynamic downswing position that should result in the trail heel lifting off the ground to allow the golfer to finish balanced on their front foot and up onto their rear tiptoe.

Now I don't know about you people like I myself I'd like to shift a little weight to but in this tip today we're going to be talking about shifting the weight in your downswing. Speak for yourself Matt yeah well you know your trim. So shifting the weight in the downswing what does that mean and what do we have to do to actually shift the way in the downswing.

Well shifting the weight it's a fundamental part of maximizing what your body can achieve because we have a certain degree of body mass and we have the ability to move that mass back in the through during the golf swing to generate the power that we want to play our best golf. Ok now this should feel like nothing you can see if you spend any time playing any other sport because golf is not alone in the fact that moving your body weight generate power. Simply put it if I gave you a golf ball and asked you to throw in any distance you could throw it here but that would be maxed out in terms of how far I wouldn't go more than 10 20 yards long yeah by then said Ok 30 yards. Well certainly I've taken a step right why am I taking a step in this that in my body I have a new force forward I can now consider my rear foot towards my front foot and be able to generate power.
