How to start your golf downswing - (Video) lesson with PGA pros Pete Styles and Matt Fryer

Some golfers make the perfect backswing and struggle to play golf to the best of their potential due to a mistake in the transition phase between the golf backswing and the golf downswing. It is imperative that we understand how to start the golf down swing. This is often called the transition phase of the swing, during this video Pete and Matt will give you the lowdown on how to improve your transition at the start of your downswing.

Right Pete I want you to solve a debate for me. My argument is that I start my downswing in my golf swing by throwing my hands towards the golf ball I've heard other things online but I believe I've got to throw my hands towards the ball. I would argue your hands have to move towards the ball near and but I don't necessarily think the terminology of throwing them towards a ball is correct and I would argue that they don't move straight towards the ball.

Ok they simply move a slightly different way and they move that way because all the parts of your body are controlling where your hands are going and what they're doing at the top of the back swing into transition. Ok so clear up my thought process for me then what are these other parts that I'll be using and what's the sequence that I'm going to be using these in. Great question if I take my address position comfortable and we're happy here we understand the golfers turn to the top in a decent position now we're looking at transition we're looking at starting this downswing back towards the golf ball and for a lot of golfers they simply make a straight line between the right wrist and the golf ball and they go in a straight direction towards there.
