Having a correct transition in the golf swing is fundamentally important in order to produce efficient clubhead speed and effortless power. In this video tip PGA professionals Pete Styles and Matt Fryer utilise a simple stepping forward drill to enable the golfer to feel an active hip movement during the transition phase, which should lead to better golf shots throughout the entire bag of clubs.
Alright, Pete when we talk about the golf swing this 3 parts to a golf swing people generally know 2 of them and then don't know a lot about the 3rd one it's one that can cause a few errors. So the 2 we know will be the backswing and then the downswing and the 3rd one is the transition and that is a change in direction from those 2 parts and something happens in there and how it should start. Is sometimes one of the common areas that we see a lot of amateurs getting wrong which can lead to more faults in their golf swing.
So if you were to give us a drill to help us get a better transition and help us produce a better golf swing what would we be looking for from that drill to achieve. It's a fair assessment Matt isn't it there are 2 parts then there is a big gray area that blend 2 parts together and yet in the transition area. So this exercise is designed to encourage golfers to transition in the correct way because a lot of people do a lot of good stuff in the swing yet again still wrong transition and that affects what happens on the downswing.
