Pitching from the rough – (Video) lesson by PGA pros Pete Styles and Matt Fryer

Golf would be ideal if we could always guarantee playing a shot from the fairway or short grass, however reality often hits and we find ourselves trying to pitch the ball in the long grass or rough to the side of the green or fairway. In this situation a golfer is best suited to alter their technique slightly in order to get the best contact on the ball. Often these changes are quite subtle and involved in the setup process. Hopefully by watching this video you will understand the changes and improve your pitching from the rough.

So sometimes Pete we find ourselves straying from the fairways and the greens. we find ourselves in a little bit of bother we find ourselves in the rough and sometimes that's close towards the green. So what I want to know is how am I going to escape this rough and hit a good pitch shot back into play or back towards the green and not sacrifice you know leaving in the rough duffing it and stuff like that.

I'm going to suggest as we don't have any rough here I'm going to challenge you can you do a tip with this towel and let the good folks know how we're going to do it. I would love to rise to the challenge Matt you know in the ideal world we would always be pitching in the middle of the fairway. We would always be hitting great straight tee shots knocking on the green but if you hit a good tee shot that has run into the rough you get a left with a short shot like Matt says pitching out of the rough.
