Every golfer is searching for the extra few yards that they can hit the ball specifically with their irons. In this video Matt and Pete will help you understand how the centredness and accuracy of your ball strike, in combination with the loft presented on the club head at the point of impact can significantly affect the distance the shot goes with the iron. This coupled with an understanding of how club head speed affects distance should help you to strike you irons in the most efficient and powerful fashion.
So Pete like anyone else I'm quite happy with how I am hitting my irons at the moment but I'd like to just squeeze a few extra yards out of them. So how would I go about churning my 7 iron that goes 150 into something that maybe goes 160? A very valid point that Matthew because I think we all understand that actually we're using a small lot of the club have more control yet we can get more and we can certainly get up a bit more softly on the green.
Yup So if you're currently a 150 yards away hitting a 7 iron I could say well let's go for an 8 iron in the same 150 distance yeah that might make you more accurate. If you were able to get that extra bit of distance from every club well yeah it's an important point to understand how we generate more distance. There is really a couple of different ways that we can do this I am actually going to start with speed because clubhead speed is king when it comes to generating distance.
