Finding The Golf Swing Slot - (Video) Lesson by PGA Pros Pete Styles and Matt Fryer

In this video tip PGA golf professionals Pete Styles and Matt Fryer talk you through the concept of finding the slot in your golf downswing. The slot is an often talked about but rarely understood concept that allows golfers to feel that they position the club early in the downstroke in order to produce a consistent and accurate inside approach towards the golf ball. This produces consistent drawing golf shots. Allowing the rear elbow to drop early in the transition phase of the golf swing should be a surefire winner in order to get the golf club into the slot.

Dropping the club into the slot is something I tend to talk about quite a lot of my lessons I shouldn't really do because a lot of people look at me and go what you mean? You're in the slot why are you dropping it so we have to explain what the slot is but once you get that understanding of dropping into the slot the analogy really works that there is this concept that there is this area in the swing that once we get into the slot you can then run down that slot. It really helps people get the concept of the downswing in a pass this on to Matt and Matt is going to explain what this downswing slot particularly is and how you can utilize it and that's a little exercise a drill to get it into that position.

Yeah OK so it's almost like the sweet spot of the golf swing on the way down if we get it in we've got to going good and we can get a lot of good things coming from in that position. What we're talking about is where the clubhead is relative when it gets to horizontal with the shaft where it is relative to our hands at this point. We want to see in a certain place with the face looking in a certain direction and then from there we're able to just turn only shift and hit some really really sweet golf shots from there.
