What is a baby draw and how to hit one – (Video) lesson by PGA Pros Pete Styles and Matt Fryer

The term baby draw is often referred to by better players and TV commentators to describe a shot that moves slightly from right to left during the ball flight for the right handed golfer. It is often described as a perfect ball flight good players like to see, during this video Pete and Matt will explain what it is and how to encourage your swing to be able to produce that perfect baby drawer.

As golfers we like nothing more than a bit of lingo a bit wordy and lingo call things a 1000 different names. Every golf shot has got a different word describe it and one particular one of my favourites because it's a nice shot but also like what we call them baby draw. We have a little baby drawer and baby drawer never went out of bounds no baby draw never went into the pond for a penalty shot baby draw always lands on the green nestle to the flag and we always make the birdie putt.

So what is a baby draw Matt and how can we hit a baby draw? Ok So understanding the terminology when we do throw these nicknames around for the shot one of the things because if we don't understand what the shot actually is and what it looks like we're probably never going to achieve one. So when we do say baby draw if we think now if I were to stand here and address the target out in the distance and when I hit this baby draw what's going to happen is for me is a right handed player the ball would set off slightly right of target 5 yards I would say generally it's never moving any more than 5 yards in the air it sets off 5 yards right of my target and then has that beautiful soft little draw that sees it finish right on target.
