Senior Golfers and How to Fix a Reverse Pivot Problem (Video) - by Dean Butler

Okay. A reverse pivot, it's something that we hear every now and then on the golf course and we're back in the bar after the round. I'm going to demonstrate what a reverse pivot actually is. A reverse pivot, think about the word reverse is that the opposite to what you should be doing, it's when you setup to the golf ball, and instead of actually transferring your weight to the right you do this. And here is the reverse pivot is where we do the opposite to what we should have been doing. There's the weight on the left hand side so I'm now leading on the left side.

If I keep my weight there as I bring the club back down I hit the ground and a big fault horrible chunky divot and being a senior golfer that ground was a bit hard. It might have been a bit of vibration in my hands and my wrist. The other option is when we do a reverse pivot. Having done this, is that on the way down that we go the opposite way. And that ball just got along the ground difference in my feet because as I went there and I came back up, the club now which should have been going down into the ball has now come back up and I have hit the top of the ball. So that’s the reverse pivot, it's where you lean on the left hand side on the back swing and then from there you have to keep the weight there or you get back either way it's a nightmare, you're going to have a horrible golf shot from it, so a very, very simple technique. A very, very simple technique to get out of the reverse pivot is just imagine setting up, setup to the golf ball and I want you somebody standing here just, just here aligned in your feet and from here just imagine taking it from here shaking the hand. Its so simplest tip. Everybody should be using this. From here shake somebody's hand. Look what's happened. My hips are turned. My weight transferred. There's no reverse pivot so from here just imagine that look what's happening just imagine shaking somebody's hand. I'm not even having to think about it. Let's put the club in it. Imagine somebody's shake. Look how simple it is. So that's very simple so that, that is the problem the reverse pivot. And I'll tell you what cause is? What cause is it? Now you've got the knowledge. Knowledge is king. Go away. Put that into practice. You can do that on your own. Just work on that movement and from there you should see a complete different golfer, but what you won't see is a reverse pivot.
