Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher
Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to talk to you about your tempo and what happens when you lose that tempo. You know a lot of times people come in here they will whip with the club or the old jerk it down from the top but the bottom line is when you lose your tempo it's very very difficult to find it again so let me show you a good way to find your tempo. When ever you happen to yank it back to quick just read the club along the ground just a little bit longer when you keep the club a little bit lower to the ground it evokes your upper body and your torso there drop it on his arms in the club that will slow you down. It's very easy when I just use my arms to move the club back too fast. So take the time to use it torso drag it back if you have a tendency to start to quickly.
Now transitional tempo is a little bit harder transitional tempo about the change direction between the up and down so if you get that transitional tempo it to be a little quick. The easiest way I've seen to do this is it take a few practice swings and kind of pump it at the top you get that feeling of just one two and what I'm doing is I'm making sure at the top that when I come down I'm letting the gravity kind of pull the club I kind of feel very very relaxed. So when I do that I'm up the club kind of gathers speed when I get over my shot to do this all in more real life situations I'm going to hit some balls of the rage and I'm going to feel half speed swings. When we have these half sspeed swings you'll really feel your propensity jump at it or whip it off the start and those are the things that you can identify so you can work on your transition tempo or your takeaway temple on the golf course but remember you must have something to hold your tempo if you don't get a lot of trouble.
