Hi I'm Tom Stickney Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and today I want to talk to you about putting. We want to make sure that we understand the roles of the right in the left hand in putting you know I know I've got a belly putter but I would use it as a regular putter so you can understand the left hand controls the face angle. So if the left hand is rotating back and for the face angle is obviously changing that's going to help you to control your direction if you can't control your left hand you can't control direction. So a good drill is just a practice putting with your left hand only it to practice your left hand only you're going to find that you're going to be very easy what could be a lot easier rather to control your direction if you can control your left hand.

Now the right wrist controls the loft of the part of the right wrist has a certain bend there's a V in the club shaft right here if the right wrist stays bent at a constant place you can see the loft of the club doesn't change. If my right wrist goes like that if the loft is changing if the loft changes it's going to be very difficult for me to control distance. So you're left hand right hand must work together when that happens you want to maintain impact alignment when you control these impact alignments it's going to be a lot easier for you to control your direction and your distance. So remember the left hand controls direction the right hand controls distance use them accordingly use that right and left hand effectively and you're going to find you can be a lot better putter.
