Many golfers come to me on the lesson tee and say “You'll notice I've got a really short swing.” and to be honest with you I'm less worried about that than they are. What you need to understand with the back swing is the golf ball doesn't know whether John Daly hitting it or John Rahm hitting it. So in Daly's case he would swing a long way and the club get way past parallel somebody like John Rahm is only swinging to hear both of them produce the necessary speed to propel of all a decent distance at impact. So the golf ball doesn't know how long your swing is it knows what speed you swinging the club head and it knows which way the club is looking in traveling. So swing length is not as important as you think I'd prefer to see a player probably with a more compact swing than I would with an over swing because when you over swing more components get involved and it's harder to time what's really important is the get to keep things happening.

So you get a reasonable amount of rotation I.E. about 90 degrees or so with your shoulders and you get about approximately 90 degrees hinge with the wrist during the swing. So players don't hinge wrist as much growing back then gather the angles coming down but we need to get about 90 degrees of hinge because that's going to be sufficient to then release powerfully through the golf club, but even Daly's back here he's got a long hinge a lot of angle but his arm is still straight and he's keeping that leverage in a big rotation. So remember how far you swing back will not relate to how far that golf ball goes if you swing back too far and get out of control. So if you want to do a John Rahm and do a 3 quarter swing where you keep the radius you get 90 degrees a hinge 90 degrees a rotation believe me as you'll see here this will work. So you can hit that ball powerfully with that 3 quarters swing and still hit it a decent distance and give that a try you'll see it will work.
