One of the more challenging shots on the short game is the downhill chipping lie. This is the one that you might often top or skull and shoot the ball across the green a lot of amateurs make the mistake that they set up for a normal chip shot quite a level with the body and this results in the low point of the arc happening before the ball. So the club descends and that it's on its way up in ascends as it hits the ball resulting in that top shot you'll find you can even miss it here. So it's critical you build the correct set up if you get the setup right your success with this shot will greatly improve. You need to get a wider stance the ball needs to be placed near your higher foot and what you need to do is get your shoulders perpendicular to the slope.

So you're mirroring the angle of the slope here. Now one of the key things is using more lofted club because when you lean the shaft forward with this stance it's de-lofting the club. So you want a usual lob wedge or you sand wedge and then it's crucial with the stroke it's trace the contours of the slope you get the full club head at the angle of the turf here if you try and scoop it all lift it. As I've said before you'll tend to top the shot so if we can get the club head following the contours of the start that's going to get the leading edge down to the golf ball and elevate it you have a lot more success. Let's give this a little try so way forward shoulders more level weight on the front of the balls near the higher thought and want to see. Following those contours a bit a nice contact with the golf ball not the leading edge down to it so give that a little pop. So try some practice remember build the correct set up, and the outcomes are going to be a lot lot more positive.
