So how are you going to get the best out of your hybrid irons. Well you've got to understand the design of this club is designed to help you and there is a little bit of school for all if you struggle with your irons use a hybrid that's going to help you. Unfortunately people then fall into the trap of trying to play too much like an iron. So often they'll get the ball in the center to lean the shaft forwards and by doing that you're taking the loft off the club the loft that the manufacturer gave you to help you, and if you do this it might make the arc descend too much on the golf ball and you're not going to elevate it so be very wary that you don't treat it too much like an iron. It is a hybrid I use a cross of the wood and iron so it has got some properties like a wood on a fairway wood where you do need to sweep the ball off so you need to brush it and not trap it. So you hit it slightly on the descent. Now dependent on the lie of the ball if the ball is sitting down a little you can hit down a fraction more on the golf ball to elevate it.

If the ball sat nicely you're going to sweep it so there's a little bit of judgment there yourself to really assess the lie. If it is sat nicely with the hybrid you going to brush it if it's sat down you can have the hand slightly further ahead hit down a little bit more that's going to elevate it. Of course is a whole range of hybrids from very little loft to a lot more loft so again you may adjust the ball position slightly if it's a less lofted one the ball is further forward. If it's got a bit more loft on it you can create the ball back towards the center, but you really don't want to be playing them center or too far back with a hybrid if we do that and again this ball's lying nicely on the mat here so I'm going to be able to sweep this one in a way not take much of a divot just brush or scrape the turf. If I do that I'm going to get the benefit of the loft that the manufacture has given me so I'm letting the shaft sit nice and straight neutral here normal set up so I'm put a nice mood swing on it swept away nicely. Now remember if the ball sat down I'm going to squeeze it a little bit more here down a bit more so this one you may hear a bit more of the thud. That one I've trapped a bit more and that had come nicely out of a tight lie. I still remember assess the lie and then adjust your set up and stroke accordingly.
