Fairway Woods – Golf Lessons & Tips (Video) by Pete Styles

If there's one shot that puts the fear of life into a lot of golfers it's hitting fairway woods from the fairway. It tends to be quite a difficult shot this one because the club itself kind of matches the most difficult components of any golf club in that it's a long shaft it's a small head and doesn't have a great deal of loft. So a driver is a long shot doesn't have a great the last piece big head an iron is a shorter shaft with more loft and a small head.

This is got the worst bits of everything it's long not much loft not very deep and it caught a small head and then we take the tee peg away from you as well and so you've got to hit it from the floor. So this is why the fairway wood of the day becomes quite a difficult shot hopefully if I can give you some advice on how you can set up and how you can approach that shot it can become a little bit easier. So if I bring the ball around and we look at it from the front the 1st thing we're going to consider is ball position so having the ball here and then a club there. If we were taking a drive or even a fairway wood from it we could have the ball quite a long way forwards in the stance.
