As a lady golfer it’s really worth considering having higher lofted Fairway Woods to play with. There are a lot of benefits to you for this rather than playing the longer irons which are more difficult to hit. So let’s consider what the benefits are of having this higher lofted fairway woods. So Fairway Woods can go anything three wood, four wood, five wood, down to sevens, nine, so even 11 woods okay. And all that’s happening with these lofts, with the club face is that the higher then numbers getting the higher the angles getting on the face so the more loft you’ve got to get the ball up in the air. Now with slower swing speeds that ladies tend to have loft is absolutely crucial to help get maximum distance. So if you got a slower swing speed a more lofted club is really going to help you get the ball up into the air and get you hitting maximum distance which is what we want with the Fairway Woods.

So the main benefits that you’ve got with the Fairway Wood rather than hitting in an iron is that this club head is much, much larger. And because the club head is larger you’ve got a much, larger sweet spot in the club head to hit the ball from. So if you’ve got a larger sweet spot to strike the ball from it’s going to be much easier for you to actually connect on the sweet spot. And hidden from the sweet spot which is really the middle of the club gives maximum distance and the best accuracy as well. Also with this larger club head the centre of gravity is much lower in the club that it is with an iron. Now having a lower centre of gravity makes it a lot easier to get the ball airborne. And as we’ve just talked about if you’ve got a lower swing speed you need to get the ball up in the air and get it airborne to get the ball carrying forward and get maximum distance. So have that lower sweet – that lower centre of gravity and the bigger sweet spot making this club much easier to hit. And also because it’s got a bigger head, we can move to centre of gravity further away from the club face. When you’re looking at an iron, an iron has a very thin top line to it, so centre of gravity is close to the club face. But with the Fairway Wood that center of gravity is much further away from the club face so it makes the club much more forgiving on off centre hits. If you want to hit with this club and hit off the toe or the heel of the club as the ball impacts with one of this areas it slows that particular area of the club down but nothing slows the other side of the club down so the club will twist. However if you’ve got a club which has got a large moment of inertia which the Fairway Woods have because the centre of gravity is further back the club is able to resist that twisting effect that happens on off centre hits. So even though you hit from off centre the club face will continue to travel square to the target and it will resist the twisting effect, making you much more accurate. Also with this Fairway Woods because the sole is much larger the club with glide over the turf much more, the leading edge of this clubs isn’t designed to dig into the ground, so you’ll find that you strike the ball a lot cleaner because the club doesn’t dig in but also you keep the club head speed going through the ball because the club is able to glide over the ground with this wider sole which doesn’t happen with the irons. So have a go with these high lofted Fairway Woods consider replacing those longer irons with the higher lofted Fairway Woods. So for example if you looked at seven wood that would replace maybe a three iron in your bag. Have a look at the loft on the Fairway Wood, you’re looking to replace that loft for the loft of the iron and if you look on Thomas Golf Website you’ll see they do have a variety of high lofted Fairway Woods, really good range of loft options on there, and for slowest swing speeds it really will help you get the ball up into the air, and as I said the more you get the ball into the air the more you’re going to hit the ball forward and see that you’ve actually hit the ball further.
