You know there's not a golfer on the planet who doesn't want to hit the ball further, but remember as Jack Nicklaus said when he tried to hit the ball further he just tried to hit it better. So what did he mean by that? When we say better it means you've got to use the sweet spot the most potent part of the golf club. If you make a bad swing at it and miss hit it and hit it all over the club face the gear effect of the club and the smash factor it's not going to be as efficient. You're not going to hit it as far so don't try and hit it harder try and hit it better. In trying to hit it harder a lot of folks will just hit down on the golf ball and smash it. So how are we going to monitor these 2 things? Well there's a couple of things I really want you to think about.

I've just got a little bit of chalk here and what I'm going to do is just chalk a line on the back of the golf ball and when I practice I'm going to place that golf ball here with that lined up to the rear of it. That's going to allow me to check where I'm striking on the club face and work on perfecting the quality of my strike. Now the other key thing I want you to do in practice and on the golf course particularly if you use wooden pegs is I need you to try and preserve that peg. You're not going to break it if that was the last tee peg on earth and you were playing a round of golf your mission is to use that to pay for the full round without snapping it. If your thundering down on that golf ball and smashing it and smashing tee pegs that's a sure fire sign your hitting down on it too much. So remember it's the quality of you swing so try and do it better not harder to swing sweeter. So let's give this a try I'm going to try and sweep this in the back of it and I'm going to try and preserve that peg if I preserve that peg and don't snap it tells me that I'm creating a sweeping blow. Well I nailed that one and look where I hit it right slap bang in the middle of the face. So I've got the tee peg still intact I figured out the middle of the club if I do that I know I am hitting it long and straight.
