Tom Stickney – A Top 100 Golf Teacher
Here we are a ball at left left of the blinker on it could also go on into right field now that I've understood that I have the over the top how do I cure it. Well the 1st thing that we have to do in order to stop this over the top type of motion is to take some practice swings making divots in the right field. Now when I make divots in the right field obviously what I'm doing is something radically different than coming from the outside of the inside by making these swings this way I'm doing something different when I do something different that's the key that I'm going to use to not come over the top of the golf ball. So when I make these in the out type of golf swings I'm really starting to feel like my right shoulder stays back a little longer my back to the target a little bit longer gives my arms an avenue to come this way.
So that's the feeling I'm going to make on this next driver to see if I can control my over the top. So here we go try to keep the hands and arms back just a little bit longer back to the target. Well there we go now when I feel that under motion that stops you from coming over it now here again when you make this divot when you do this divot drill you might feel something in your left arm your left pinky toe your right ear I don't know use that feeling to cure that driver from coming over the top of it. So remember your divots in the right field that drills in to give you the feeling that you need to stop coming to the top of it with all your clubs but especially with a driver once you get that feeling work on coming more from the inside for me it was kind of leaving my right shoulder my hands back just a bit more for you it might be something else but use that right field divot drill and you'll never come over the top of it again.
