I think one of the best compliments anybody can ever have about their golf swing is when someone says, “It just looks so smooth and so balanced”. And often that’s attributed to the fact that you have a very good follow through position. So we know if we want to hit this iron shot consistently everything needs to be the same, consistent all the way through and then this bit consistent as well. Because if in your golf follow through you show any sign of a falling over or in balance, that probably had an effect before you actually struck the ball you started to fall off balance, struck it and then fell over at the end. So if you're going to hit golf shots perfectly in balance, perfectly in balance that’s going to be a perfect way of finishing your swing every time. You start the swing in the same position you finish the swing in the same position. And a good golf follow through is here, the feet are in the same sort of position so the front leg isn’t going to move at all, that one shouldn’t skid around on the surface.

This one however comes right upon through its tiptoes. So your rear leg comes all the way round to the tiptoe. And that’s created because the hips are turning to face the target, the chest turns to face the target, the heads are facing the target and the club well that will go somewhere behind your back depending on your level of flexibility. You may turn to be able to get the club here, here or right or around through a big finish. Where the club goes to is not actually that essential as long as your body is in a good full finish position. And now what we want to try and deal with this, is hold that finish until the ball comes down. So I hit my shot and I hold my finish the whole time the ball is in the air until it lands. Now you might feel a bit of – a bit of a pauser holding that position, staring down there as it goes down in the middle. But it's a great way of telling the body that we want to start in this position every time and finish in this position every time. That will provide a lot more consistency for the iron shots that you're trying to hit. Get your follow through right and watch more straight iron shots landing on the green.
