Senior Golfers Hit Straighter and Longer Let your Follow Through Bring Your Head Up (Video) - by Dean Butler

So we are really trying to search for hitting the ball longer and straighter. But one of the strangest things is actually by letting your head follow the ball, the impact, you might think, well what sort of significance is that, that you are hitting the ball further distance. Well, the majority of golfers, gets you engrained by their fellow golfers to keep their head down. So if I keep my head down and swing, you can that my follow through is so restricted. My body didn't move out of the way, it didn't turn, I didn't transfer any weight. You know hey, you say that looking at the camera, looking to the screen thinking wow, I never thought about that.

So by keeping your head down has actually undone all the good work that you may well have had in your backswing, because the impact, you have just switched off the engine. So you are going to hit shorter distance shots and more wayward because you are keeping your body still. So it's very, very important to actually get this head right, so when you get over to the ball, I want you to focus, not changing your swing at all, but I want you to focus on coming into that back of that ball and then from here following it. Now you might think, well you are the pro, look at that, you have brought you feet through naturally. I can assure you now; all I have done there is focus on actually following that ball. Let's put it into practice. Over that ball, swing the club back and I have allowed my head to follow that ball, the weight has naturally come onto my left-hand side. So everything that we are trying to achieve here, the weight transference, the strike, you can just imagine, everything, we are getting maximum potential out of that golf shot. Are we hitting it any harder, no. Are we putting in more effort, no, all we are doing is going against the grain of what you have been told, to kind of taking on the golf course. When you matches all things your head came over that, if I only did it sometimes. And normally it’s because you keep your head down so much. So remember the tip here, get into the impact area and as soon as you hit, hit and look for the ball, look at the difference. I can assure you if you keep your head down, you will be more here, where you are planted on the ground. And where is your weight, static, but the weight is here, you are hitting with your arms. There is so only so far you can hit a ball with your arms, but if you have got your weight going through, wow all that extra distance with no more effort. It makes sense to put it into practice, go and enjoy this.
